Parish Profile

The parish of Westmoreland is located at the extreme southwest of the island and has a population of 145,628 as of the year ending 2011. The Westmoreland Public Health Services serve the second largest population within the Western Regional Health Authority (WRHA). WRHA effectuates the policies promulgated by the Ministry of Health & Wellness through an integrated primary and secondary healthcare system. Primary care services are delivered by twenty (20) clinics across five (5) health districts comprising one (1) Type IV, five (5) Type 3, three (3) Type 2, and eleven (11) Type 1 facilities. Primary care services are administered by the Westmoreland Health Department. Secondary care services are delivered at the Savanna-la-Mar Hospital (SPGH) – the only Type B hospital in the Western Regional Health Authority.
